Get started with Passport

This tutorial shows you how to get started with Civics Credentialing passport:

  • Accept your first badge
  • Create a Civics Credentialing passport account
  • Make your badge public for sharing
  • Finding additional badges
1. Get started with Passport
  • After completing the requirements for a badge, you will receive an email from “Civics Credential via OBF” ([email protected]) with a subject line saying: “Claim your badge: [BADGE NAME]”.
  • Select the “Get your badge” link in the email to go to the Open Badge Factory Badge  Page.
  • Page to the bottom of the Open Badge Factory Badge Page and select the “Go to Passport” button to go to the Civics Credentialing Passport Badge Acceptance Page.
  • IMPORTANT: Do not share your badge on social media on the Open Badge Factory Badge Page! Always get your badge into your Civics Credentialing Passport so you can manage it in your portfolio of badges on passport.
  • Page down the Civics Credentialing Passport Badge Acceptance Page and press “Login”.
  • If you already have Civics Credentialing Passport you would be able to login and go to Step 3.
2. Create a Civics Credentialing Passport account
  • When presented with the Civics Credentialing Passport Login Page, select “Create New Account”
  • You will be prompted to accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy for Civics Credentialing. Once you accept it, select the “Continue” button.
  • Fill out the Simple Registration Form and select the “Create new account” button
  • In the Thank You Screen that opens, select the button “Continue”
  • Your Passport Dashboard page will open. You should see a button that says “You have a new badge waiting” in the top right quadrant of the Dashboard. Select it.
  • Your Badges Page opens with the badge you have earned waiting for your acceptance. Select the button “Accept badge”
3. Make your badge public for sharing
  • In the Set badge visibility box that opens, select PUBLIC if you want to be able to share your badge to social media and other public sites
  • Your new badge is now visible on Your Badges Page, ready to be joined by many more badges!
Share a badge on LinkedIn from Passport

This tutorial shows you how to share a badge on your LinkedIn profile and newsfeed.

  1. Setting up to share on LinkedIn
  2. Add your badge in a section of your LinkedIn Profile
  3. Share your badge as a post in your newsfeed
1. Setting up to share on LinkedIn
  • Go to your Badge page and select the badge you want to share
  • Select the Social tab in the pop-up window that opens. Make sure the badge is set to [PUBLIC] so it can be shared.
  • Select the LinkedIn icon under the heading Share this badge.
  • A pop-up window appears labeled Share on LinkedIn with two options. We’ll guide you through both options.
2. Add your badge in a section of your LinkedIn Profile
  • This will publish your badge as a fixed Certification in your Profile:
  • Select [Add to profile]
  • A Certification form opens up on LinkedIn with your badge information already entered. Select the Issuing organization field to choose a branded link to the issuing organiztion, if the organization has a company page on LinkedIn; otherwise, simply accept the unbranded option.
  • When finished, select [Save]
  • Your badge is now visible in the “Licenses and Certifications” section of your LinkedIn profile.
  • Other LinkedIn users can select [Show credential] to verify the badge.
3. Share your badge as a post in your newsfeed
